How a journey works

  1. 1

    Pick a route

Choose one of four routes and miles or kilometres. Give it a nickname if you like. You get a private link: bookmark it. That link is the only key.

  2. 2

    Log what you cover

After a walk, run, ride, swim or paddle anywhere, add the date and the distance. Your phone's step counter or a map app can tell you how far.

  3. 3

    Watch the shore go by

See which harbors you have passed, how far it is to the next one and how much of the route is done. Finish it, print the certificate and start the next.

Free to start. $1.95 a month for the whole lake.

Harbor Run West is free. The Shore Pass opens Harbor Run East, the Ohio Shore and Around Lake Erie (543 mi), the printable finish certificate and a CSV of every entry.

Shore Pass: $1.95 a month, $19.50 a year, or a $1.00 Week Pass. Free during preview: checkout is not open yet, so nothing is charged and every route is open to everyone.

Plain about the numbers

Each leg is the straight-line distance between two town centres, worked out on this server. Straight lines cut across bays and points, so the real walk along the shore is longer. Shore Miles counts only what you type in: it does not read your phone, your watch or your location.
